First Workshop

For the first workshop we were asked to produce an editorial illustration from a list of titles.
The baked chocolate truffle and Pernod figs recipe stood out to me as food was something I enjoyed illustrating.

I looked at the illustrator Leona Beth Pearson. How she used the watercolours to illustrate the ingredients and materials needed to make certain foods stood out to me. The colours where also vibrant and eye catching and this is something that I wanted to translate into my own work. Her work has an ‘undone’ feel about it, her work isn't precise or perfect.

I also looked at Chris Dickason. His work is rather different to that of Pearson’s with the clean, sharp lines and conspicuous colour choices. Even though my work does not take much inspiration for Chris’ work, I still love his style.
The work that I produced for this project was not something that I am particularly proud of. I think that the watercolours worked well with this piece. They were easy to use and layer to create different colours however, I don’t think I created as much vibrancy as I wanted with this piece of work. The colours are quite washed out and there are some amazing colours that I wanted to get across with the ingredients used in this recipe.

My work was also not completed for the deadline. This is purely down to lack of organisation and making this a less of a priority that it should have been.
